Connecting Nature, an EU-funded project led by Trinity College
Dublin, has launched a research study on companies that use and promote
nature-based solutions (NBE). One of the main tools used in this research is
the survey, in which representatives of this kind of business are invited to
participate.
This
study aims to increase knowledge about nature-based enterprises and
organizations, in order to identify differences from and similarities to other
types of companies and to find out the implications that this can involve in
terms of obstacles, enabling factors and optimal measures to support them.
The
results will be presented to the European Commission and to national, regional
and civic policy makers and professionals at the Connecting Nature
Enterprise Summit in June 2021.
With
growing demand for nature-based solutions, a new challenge has emerged: recent
reports have shown that cities have trouble finding qualified and experienced
suppliers to meet the growing demand.
Nature-based
enterprises (NBE) are engaged in economic activities that use nature in a
sustainable way as a central element of their product / service for planning,
providing and / or managing nature-based solutions. Nature-based organizations
are similar to nature-based enterprises in providing nature-based products and
services, but they differ in that these services are not provided as main
economic activity. Among these organizations are for example parks departments,
conservation charities, etc …
Participating
in the survey takes about 10-15 minutes. The interviewee's data is protected in
accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). A code number
will be assigned to all the answers of the questionnaire, in order to preserve
the confidentiality and anonymity. Research results will be presented in an
aggregate format and organizational data will never be presented without
explicit prior permission.
