The Ministry for Ecological Transition (MiTe) has allocated resources for 2020 and 2021 to finance an experimental programme of tree planting, replanting and forestry, and the creation of urban and peri-urban forests in Italian metropolitan cities.

On 16th March 2021, the call for tender of MiTe for the 2021 of the experimental programme for urban reforestation was published. Metropolitan cities can apply by 20th July, 2021.

The resources allocated by MiTe to finance projects for planting, replanting and forestry, and for the creation of urban and peri-urban forests in metropolitan cities amount to € 18 million and are intended for metropolitan cities that present up to a maximum of 5 project proposals, of their own and/or received from third parties for their own territory, and that each provide for total costs not exceeding € 500,000.
